International Society for Ecology and Culture (ISEC)
The International Society for Ecology and Culture (ISEC) is a non-profit organisation concerned with the protection of both biological and cultural diversity.
Their emphasis is on education for action: moving beyond single issues to look at the more fundamental influences. Activities include:
* Books, reports, conferences and films
* Local, national and international networking.
* Community initiatives.
* Campaigning.
ISEC have worked in more than a dozen countries, from the UK and the USA to Thailand and Bhutan. Their programme in Ladakh, or 'Little Tibet', where they have been running a wide range of 'hands on' projects since 1975, has won international acclaim for countering the negative effects of conventional development in that region.
ISEC has now established an 'Ancient Futures Network' to bring together groups and individuals from every corner of the world that are struggling to maintain their cultural integrity in the face of economic globalisation.

Australian Community Foods
Australian Community Foods is a non-profit community service for people interested in healthy, local food.
The main value of this site is the geographic matching service. In other words, you can search for wholesome food near you. (It's free!) This site has a bounty of resources and ideas for the food consumer.
Towards a Communtiy Suppoted Agriculture
Food, along with water, is one of the fundamental requirements of life. Without it, we
can live but a few days. However, people often have very little understanding of where
their food comes from, how it is produced, what is in it, and who controls it. And why
should people care? So long as the supermarket shelves are fully stocked, why should
people be concerned about their food?
The short answer is that our current systems of producing and distributing food are
failing catastrophically in three key areas: health, justice, and environmental
sustainability.
